Hemifacial Microsomia
Brochure & Coloring Book
A collaboration with UI Health Craniofacial Center of Chicago
Presented at the 2019 American Cleft-Palate Craniofacial Association Meeting
Patient education materials created by a multidisciplinary team to empower children and parents with their Hemifacial Microsomia(HFM) treatment journey. Created in both English and Spanish the patients with HFM can learn about their anatomy and surgical treatments in an engaging and non-threatening way.

HFM treatment can be a frightening process for young patients and parents. A goal was set to mitigate some of these negative feelings. The design team consulted with the members of the UI Health Craniofacial team to tailor each illustration to fit the the needs of the patents and parents, taking care to keep each visualization simple, accurate, and welcoming. A secondary focus was set to promote interest and interaction with the educational materials with illustration style and specific graphical elements.
